- this fan is well made, using stiff 24-gauge galvanized steel compared to most duct work fittings, which use the thinner 26 or even 28 gauge. An electric connection box is riveted to the outside of unit, with BX (steel-coiled sleeve) cable running to the fan motor. The motor is held in place with two strong steel brackets bolted to the duct.

- sitting on a concrete floor running, it's only 67 decibels at 5 feet, which isn't bad at all. 100% of the sound is the air whooshing though the fan; i.e., there is no mechanical noise. I couldn't see or hear any hint of vibration. Touch the housing while it's running, and there is an almost imperceptible vibration, which means the propeller (fan blade) is almost perfectly balanced.

- permanently lubricated sealed sleeve bearing 110 volt, 1/25 HP, 1.3 amp, 143 watts, motor (made in Mexico).

- can operate in air up to 150 degrees which is more than enough for virtually any heating or venting application. Only the best in-line fans are temperature rated. Most don't even tell you their maximum operating temperature.

- fan housing is 12" in diameter and 15 3/4" long. Although Amazon's specs say it must be hardwired, that's not true. I.e., I wired in a heavy duty 18 gauge 3-wire extension cord to the fan's electrical box, and plugged it into an receptacle designed specifically for the fan. I.e., that receptacle is hot only when the fan should be running.

- keep the spec sheet that comes with the fan because the motor and propeller (fan blade) are replaceable from the factory.

As with any new fan, test it when first received -- to ensure that the propeller is balanced, doesn't hit anything, and turns freely, and the motor is quiet. If the propeller is unbalanced, the unit will vibrate (or even shake) when running, in which case return the fan or contact the seller for a new propeller. It's too late to find out about such a problem after installation or after the return period ends.
