Bright and Powerful LED Technology
The E-Flood LiteBox lantern features six C4 LEDs, and is impervious to shock with a 50,000 hour lifetime. Six wide pattern parabolic reflectors produce a smooth flood pattern. Optimized electronics provide regulated intensity. LED Solid State circuitry provides regulated light output throughout battery life. A jumper selectable high or low setting allows higher light output or longer run time. The High setting features 4,000 candela (peak beam intensity), 615 lumens, and up to 8 hours of run time. The Low setting features 2,150 candela (peak beam intensity), 330 lumens, and up to 18 hours of run time.
It also features a zero-maintenance 6-volt, 12-amp hour sealed lead acid battery, plus red and green LEDs that provide charge status feedback.

The streamlight power failure system has been around for years as an 8w incandescent broad beam bulb that was powered by a 6V 10 ah battery and would give a few hours of light automatically if plugged into the charger when the power failed - sort of like those stairway exit lights - it comes with a push to release holder that keeps it on charge while wall mounted. It's been revised to use the new high power white LEDs with some great features.First some notes:
The photo from amazon above does not show the clear polycarbonate dome that potects the 6 leds and their heatsink`- you can not physically touch the heat sink or leds. I have no idea where the dome cover went in the photo. Second, the photo shows the lantern removed from the wall mount. This is one of the advantages - when the power fails, the light comes on automatically, you go to the wall mount and press the release bar which allows removal of the lantern. It's a well designed system, but there are a few misconceptions out there.
Some specifications have quoted it as having a high/low power output -- it does not.
Newer models of this light without the power failure feature have two blue led lights in the back that can operate in different modes - constant on or flash to see the person in front of you. THIS UNIT DOES NOT HAVE SUCH LEDS.
What it does have is an incredible runtime now that they switched to LED lighting without a sacrifice of light output. I've just finished charging the unit and am running it to see just how long that runtime is so if its not in line with the specs, I'll update the review.
Amazon's price right now is very good compared to discount dealers of streamlight products - The system comes as a complete kit with both cigarette lighter charger, wall wart charger, and the mounting base with 4 screws and carry strap all not sown here. You can mount this in your car, just ensure its power is not turned off when the engine is turned off or else it will light every time you turn off the engine.
The head has been redesigned for the LEDs as a heatsink to dissipate the heat generated by running the new high output leds which produce a very even beampattern with no rings or distortions - it's a highly desirable light distribution that ordinarily costs a premium to produce.
