My contractor bought and installed three of these without giving me any details in advance. I figured a sink is a sink, but this isn't true. The 18" Xylem sinks replaced oval-shaped overmount sinks, and the Xylem sinks look dramatically smaller although the usable interior of these sinks is measurably the same size as the old sinks - overmount sinks appear larger than undermounts due to the "lip" around the edge.) If I had it to do over, I'd specify a larger sink than 18 inches.

I have since researched other manufacturers' sinks and there aren't many who make 18-inch sinks - most start at 19 or 20 inches, which should tell you something.

The round overflow drain cover, which appears to be chrome in the picture, is actually chrome-like plastic. It's easy to scratch, and ours was permanently scratched within a week of installation.

The "vitreous china" part of the sink seems well-made, no complaints there. And it's "Made in China"! How genuine is that!
