These massive chisels are designed for cleaning up uneven surfaces on very large projects, particulary timber framing and boat building. Made to be pushed rather than struck, their qualities of weight and balance help produce a very fine but accurate cut, and the handles are off-set from the blades to give extra clearance - whether working on deep mortises or taking long paring cuts. The blades are produced from high carbon alloy steel for the perfect balance of hardness, toughness, and razor edge holding ability. The working face is machine ground in order to produce a slightly hollow surface for ease of honing while the back face is rounded off along its length to eliminate sharp corners and increase user comfort and safety. The contoured ash handle is attached to the blade with the combination of a heavy duty tang and an innovative socket for exceptional strength. Each slick has an overall length of 27-28". England

I am a novice at timberframing. I have little to no experience with this sort of tool. I have been woodworking for 30+ years with a host of other tools of the trade. This is a truly beautiful and awesome looking tool. I have only used it for a couple of hours I love the way it works the wood and its balance and the way it feels in my hands.
Again, I am a novice when it comes to it's intended use so I can not speak to it's technical merits. But I can say so far I love it.
It is pricey, but my experience with most tools you get what you payed for. And after reading the few reviews, I figured I'd take a chance. I also was hoping that it might to easier and better to learn this new skill with a good quaility tool.
