This light is extremely bright and has some serious throw. Seriously, you need to be careful where you point this thing. I have an older model Surefire and a newer Surefire P2X Fury and several older Maglites, but this light is BRIGHT and it will throw in spotlight mode. For the size (compared to to the larger Maglites) and cost (compared to some Surefires) this light is amazing. The diffuser is very handy for converting spotlight into flood light. I bought this for home defense and I am sure it will disorient if not disable someone. I'll keep the Surefire's for backpacking and hunting though, as they are much smaller and lighter.
