Honestly, there's nothing insanely special about this lamp. I like that it adjusts but not easily. The base is a heavy and durable feeling square base that you screw the rod into the center of it and if you can picture the bottom of the rod where it screws in, there's a small hole on the side of it where the power cord comes out so the cord is visible and falls over base instead of under it. The pic does not show this to be the case and had I known, I would have decided against it since we have the lamp out in the open and not tucked behind furniture. Since the power cord runs through the lamp rod, adjusting the lamp height depends on how hard you yank the power cord through and out of the bottom/side of the rod. It's not a very nice looking rod ensemble but I guess I should have tried zooming in a little more. The pic was also deceiving when it came to the shade itself. In the pic, it appears to be a nice, warm taupe or mocha color but I was very surprised to see it was a design of white and golden yellow weave-looking patterns. Not what I wanted but it will have to do. The lamp is also crooked and we've tried to gently "bend" it back in the straight position but we're scared it's going to break. Not worth the price it's selling for in my opinion.
