Festool 492396 FS Guide Rail Accessory Kit Review

If you need the angle gadget its a good deal otherwise the separate components are cheaper.

The good:
Nice set of accessories for the Festool guide rail system.
The angle gadget is easy to use and accurate with an easy to read scale.
The guide rail clamps fit well and are well made as are the guide rail connectors--a necessity for joining two sections.
The limit stop and deflector are nice to have but get in the way on very long cuts (8 to 10' or more).
There is room in the systainer for two more clamps.

The Bad:
The clamps are the short 4� screw ones not the longer 11" ones or the fast release ones, and there is no room for either the long or fast release.
The clamps are for attaching the rails, angle gadget etc. to the table (work best with the MFT), unless used with care they can mar wood (make sure that the swivel ends do).
Unless you need them the angle unit, deflector and stop are nice to haves but add considerably to the cost of the kit.
Usual brittle plastic Festool molded liner that can't be modified; there is a large round well that doesn't fit anything in the kit--looks like the systanier was designed for something else. If the liner design was better I would have given it 5 stars but for the price I don't expect "...well it works OK...".

The Ugly:
Can't really be used except with the Festool guide rail system.
One more systainer to keep track of.

Overall a nice set of useful accessories for the Festool guide rail system. A good buy but overall pricy particularly considering the less than great implementation of the systainer.
